Days 1-9 Kathmandu :

We will visit the seven World Heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley, hold classes in permaculture, and visit examples of local and organic farming.

  • Culture and Invisible Structures
  • Observation: Recognizing Flows and Patterns
  • Water: Characteristics, Behaviors, Treatment, and Systems
  • Soil and Landform
  • Plants and Agriculture; Animal systems

 

Days 10-13 Chitwan

Permaculture classes continue and participants have the opportunity to see and learn about the jungle habitat, ride an elephant through part of the National Park, tour a local indiginous village, among other activities.

Days 14-19 Dhulikhel :

Drawing upon learned materials from the course, permaculture certification concludes with a small team practical design integrated into a land system.  The design portion of this trip will be held at an organic farm roughly an hour outside the Kathmandu Valley.  

 

Days 20-26 Trek: 

The tour will continue with a trek through the Himalayan foothills.  The trek is an amazing opportunity to consider the natural elements that have shaped the landscape and communities, and gives a chance to interact with a diverse group of people while observing large scale community designs.   

 

Days 27-28 Conclusion

Upon returning to Kathmandu we will wrap up the tour with a discussion on how to bridge from the experience to daily lives back home and celebrate with a party in the evening.  For people looking to stay longer we will be available to recommend additional tours and help locate volunteer opportunities.
