nepal permaculture tour The Kathmandu section of the program will be followed by a trip to the Chitwan National Park .   This section will afford participants a view of the jungle habitat both on foot and the choice to ride through on the back of an elephant.   Jungle activities will be complemented by knowledgeable and voluntary discussions about permaculture with a visit to the indigenous Tharu villages.  Here we will consider the local technologies in relation to the particular climate and landscape.   Following the Chitwan tour we will move to a farm in a village on the outskirts of Kathmandu for the design portion of permaculture certification.   sustainabilty tour Coordinating with the land owner, knowledge in permaculture will be put to use developing a design for the land in small teams.   Succesful completion of this portion of the tour will result in a certification in Permaculture Design for each participant.

nepal permaculture tour The tour will conclude with the Himalayan foothills trek through mountain villages.   The hike offers participants the opportunity to consider what has been learned on the tour while interacting with villagers or simply enjoying the awe-inspiring landscape.   The overall tour will be complemented with traditional meals in the homes of local ethnic groups at three different climatic zones within the country.   Upon completion of the trek we will return to Kathmandu for consideration of how to build upon the experience and conclude with a celebration. Our goal is to inspire a deeper understanding of environmental and cultural integrity, two prominent concerns in an increasingly globalized world.
